Before I got my VIPA I was seriously looking at getting a shock with remote lockout because I hate fumbling around for the lockout lever every two minutes. However, after riding my VIPA I realized that I really don't need remote lockout because when riding off-road I leave the shock in fully open mode the whole time. There really is no pedal-bob when standing (Thanks Patrick). On open dirt roads I sometimes use the "pro-pedal" mode and only fully lock the shock when doing road rides.

That is the sign of a proper and efficient suspension design - if you get that right first, you don't have to compensate or correct it by using a fancy shock! :)
