I have just bought a Cycleops Power beam pro. I added a new screen to my Garmin Edge 500. I have Power, %FTP and Average power. I tested it out for the first time today and for some reason the Ave Power never showed a figure. Anyone have any ideas as to why this would be

The power beam pro is a power meter built into the trainer. there was figures on my Garmin for the power and the %FTP but no figure for the Ave power

Did you pair the two?

"Like most ANT+ head units, the Joule works with the concept of ‘pairing’, which is like tethering. In this case, our first order of business is to pair the head unit with the trainer itself. While this is done via ANT+, it’s actually not open ANT+, so not every head unit can pair with the trainer (but, as I’ll discuss later, any head unit can get power information from the trainer)."

Did you start an activity, or did you just start turning the pedals? You need to start an "official" activity for averages to be calculated...
