Carbon vs aluminum

Hi all,

Probably not a new question but want a bit of feedback if you have the time. I am finally getting to upgrade my old 26er to 29er. I am pretty competitive and am going the hardtail route. I am also a teacher so have limited budget. I have options on a new Bergamont revox 8.3. Spec in short is full X9 and I am getting them to upspec the hoops to ztr crest with x9 hubs. weight as it stands will be 11.4 subtract the exchange of wheels. Old set were Alex xd lite. Brakes are avid elixer5 and Tyre racing ralf tubeless ready which they will convert for me. Option 2 is either a titan carbon elite which is xt rear and deore front with a solo air shock compared to a Reba rl it is a 3x chain ring in front compared to a 2x I prefer the 2x but suppose that is minor. I can't seem to find a weight on the titan. price on the Bergamont will be 15700 compared to about 16500 on the titan. Advice please guys if you can . http://www.titanracingbikes.com/carbon29relite.html vs http://www.bergamont.de/en/bikes/archiv/2013/revox-83/

I like everything about the titan except the 3x10 ,but will live with it .Both will serve you well .I like Shimano so that will swing it for me .Tubeless conversion with tubeless tyre s is a nice extra if it is real tubeless racing Ralph's and not the evo,s that they convert.Titan will be slightly heavier mainly due to the wheel set and fork

Go Carbon, have mine for 6 weeks and love it... You must just check the carbon frame warranty...
