I have a 2012 Giant XTC frame, the geo is out dated, with a 71.5 HA and a top tube of 625, no real numbers on reach. That makes it difficult to judge the size, as my bike feel a little bit awkward on tight singletracks en steep downhills from the old geo.

Just a quick question to all of you riding the 'new' LSG STR frames... What size would you recommend for me, I am 1.9m tall (that said I am between a L and XL) I want to use the bike for longer distances and using it for trial riding, I am leaning towards an XL

I just googled a little bit on the YT sites New Capra stock (29er AL Comp) USA 13 Feb-10 April (depending on size and colors) Canada 17 April Australia 1 May New Jeffsy 29er ( 29 CF Comp) USA 8 May Canada 5 May Australia 29 May- 28 Aug (depending on sizes and colors) That say that there is a tremendous back log from head office and that there is a VERY SMALL chance that SA will receive stock in this year, and when they receive stock it will be like maybe 5 bikes total.

I thought it wouldn't do any damage to ask about when new stock will arrive in SA and I received this email from them.

So it is just not me? I am really in the market for a new Capra, but don't know when stock will arrive, I was actually wondering if I should email the head office, maybe they can help to when the new bikes will arrive...

No I am just kidding!! I don't have a torque wrench, but I have that 3 way Alle key from park tool, there is not enough leverage to over tight a bolt, that can maybe be a cheeper option. You invested so much in your bike all ready, I think it deserves a torque wrench as well.

I just replaced my open bath Fox damper with the new FIT4 damper, and I can honestly say that is money well spend. An upgraded damper makes a big difference. If I was you I would go for it, you learn so much about your suspension after so big upgrade that you end up asking yourself how you ever lived without it.

Depending on your weight I would go for the 32h, just more spokes and a little bit stiffer I believe

I think it is hard to compare bikes like that, but in a short conclusion I would say the FS is more relaxed and will be better for long distance riding. The FS is more modern geo. On the slower steering I would not worry about that, it will be waaayyyy better on downhills and you won't even notice riding gravel roads. Yes the handlebar will be higher, but 15.5cm seems a bit extreme I would say? That maby be a bigger factor, I cannot comment on that. The other think you should consider is suspension geometry, every bike handle differently depending on how the suspension work, like for instance a more progressive bike will be far different to ride if you compare it with like a linear bike (like the older Scott bike). This all is very technical, just ask for a demo bike for a weekend, I think your answers will be answered after a weekend on your local trails

I have an 1995 Mercedes C220 with 165000km on the clock and never had any problems with it, you can get those for around 40k and in very good condition. It gives me 8-10l/100km, very comfortable to ride (and it can do 200 on the highway). Some of them have issues with the wiring of the engine loom being bio degrade able and degrading way to fast, but other than that I love my Benz. You also have bragging rights and you can tell everyone you are riding a Mercedes, just leve out that it is an old model. Yes I think of getting myself a bakkie, but with a towbar I can do anything a bakkie can do.

I won't go for the Yari, I would rather go for the Pike of Lyric, just because they have wayyy better dampers. Just be careful when you are buying shocks other than Rock Shox or FOX, parts may be limited in SA, and just keep serving costs in mind as well, RS cost way less to service (dust wipers) than FOX. My FOX cost me around R1000 to service where a Reba would go for around R600/700

All I want to know is that they will change for the 2018 Capra, I like the new scott 29/27.5 design...

Also looking for a budget 9 speed, my 15t broke so I run 2 13t cogs on my DH bike

I know Yeti work very close with FOX, and some of their frames may even be designed around a certain shock characteristics, FOX make very good rear shocks, I would keep FOX, but if you want to change I would contact the importers of maybe mail Yeti direct and ask them.

Yeah, that sucks! I would focus on getting the muscles around the knee stronger before attempting to do anything further. Rather consult with a Bio or a Physio, but try to get someone who specializes in sport injuries and know and understand the rehabilitation for a particular sport. And after that I would say get a gym membership and do some squats, they do wonders for knees and it makes you stronger and then you can ride further

Just a random question, what are the SA Road rules about something standing out so far behind a car that don't have lights or plates. My old man told me that the old rules were that it may not stick out more than 0.5m unless it's an emergency and have a red vlaggie. I also eyed one of those racks, but you can only use them on a bakkie, because my Merc towbar can't hold the weight and it will push the rear of my car down like a sootskraper on the road. Just curious about the rules, but that aside I personally think it is better and easier than A Thule rack.

After my experience with Motul and my FOX shock, I would rather buy the R600 bottle. The Motul works good for a lower service, but it doesn't mix lekker with the damper...
