if you read the reverse of the sachet, you will notice that its recommended every 45mins or so (depending on the manufacturer)

For each person its different, so go and practice with the various types on your training rides. Some taste like medicine, others are sickly sweet, and others are bitter.

The amount you use also depends on your total food intake for the specific event you are doing. if you are doing a 9-10 hour epic day, your needs will be vastly different to a 3 hour 100km road race.

practice makes perfect.

For a century race:

One at the start for that launch;

One in the final 45 mins for that zip to the chalk.
