So I bent my Ritchey WCS seatpost and am just waiting for it to crack. What will I get then?

What's really strong?

Is there an alternative to the Thomson posts if you DON'T want carbonfibre?

Sacked! A high pitched voice' date=' and possible in-ability to pro-create?

I really do hope that won't happen!

Hopefully I'll be able to replace the seatpost before Smile

Check out the Easton EA70. Ive had one for about 3 years and swap it between hardtail MTB and my road bikes. Its plenty strong!

I also thought the ritchey was strong...

how much you weight bru?  (you can ask that a bloke!?)

lighty you are! ;-)

I'll see what I find out about the easton but buying a seatpost that comes in its own little bag always attraced my attention. The price is shocking though.

I'm also looking for a strong pillar.

I bent mine about 10 degrees back on a ride around the Benoni mine dumps last weekend.

Oh, now that I've just about lost all my fat I'm 90kgs.

Any recommendations?

THOMSON

Ask Greatwhite, it seams he has gone through this exercise before.  I think his conclusion was get a frame that takes a fatter seat post. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I replaced my bent MTB's seat post with a cheap Kalloy Uno post with no problems so far.  It is a skinny post that fits into a steal frame.

I have a Thomson on my road bike and they are amazing. That would be my first choice.

I bent my ritchey post about a year and a half ago. still riding it, keep forgetting about it until I want to drop the saddle. I weigh about 82 (depends on the weather,) and plan on riding until it breaks, and hope to avoid injuries. its a sad life being a poor student. I'd love to replace it with the easton post, but alas, only after finishing  studies.

Looking at the reviews on mtbr, the Thomson looks like the way to go!

Elite post - 374 reviews with an average rating of 96%

Master Post - 9 reviews with everyone giving it 100%

My Easton scored pretty poorly in comparison - 74 reviews = 46%

yeah the thomson seem to be a safe choice - i'd be very disappointed if it'd break.

but they retail for 119?....  wooohoooo. I'll have to cut my ice cream spending short! Wink

don't worry about the review of your seatpost - if it doesn't brake theres nothing to worry about!

Thomson. KCNC ok, but only for sub-75kg - it is not the post that breaks, but the clamp.  Similar issues with Extralite.
