Years ago I did the 10 km night race - we stayed in Ottosdal. I was still in primary school! I won the 10 km race back then and my prize money? A Beer Mug! For a 12 year old!!!

 

Just the thought makes me feel as if I'm travelling back in time!

 

Good to see the event has grown - we were probably less than 50 runners in the 10 km - I see there was > 1 000 in 2012.

Me too.

 

There are a few events coming up here in the platteland.

 

Our little bike park has the mtb summer festival in feb.. and a birdie told me big cash prizes, they have some local businesses that have climbed on board. Also the Hartbeesfontein mieliemyl is some time in Feb.

Ek hoop ook so! Maar dit behoort steeds 'n lekker dag vir fietsry te wees.

 

Hierdie is een van my gunsteling wedrenne juis omdat dit op die platteland is.

Yoh plenty people got punctures and cut sidewalls yesterday

 

I well I finished, I had a super hard time on my bike. Was just an effort getting the bike moving forward.. oh well these thing happen. Luckily it wasnt too hot

 

They have made the route as hard as what they can do in the platteland. I was really hoping to do a sub 3hrs.. but 3:15 (60km) not too bad considering how I felt.. maybe next yr it will go better
