HI all

Got my gloves covered in Stan's trying to fix a flat this am.

Soaking them in some hand wash powder now but not sure if that's going to do the trick.

Any other ways to easily get the Stan's off them or are they to be binned now?

Thanks,

WW.

May I?

I spend a lot of time time with my hands (sometimes up to my elbows) looking like a grease monkey, so I know the feeling.

When I ride somewhere where it's not going to be fun to have dirty hands I carry a pair of the blue latex nitrile rubber gloves (just checked, they weigh in at 1.748g each)* so not too much penalty there. It takes about 3 nanoseconds to whip them on with a gynae/proctologist grin and then you can do Stans or chain work and keep your hands clean.

They might even come in handy if you come across an accident.

You can get them for about R5 a pair from Wurth.

When done, invert them and take them home. No littering.

* I was only joking about the weight

Bugger that. Around R50 a box of 100 from Dischem is my preference. Keep a pair in the car, on the bike, on the M/bike.

You can use thinners. I know from past experiments that it does remove sealant but if your gloves have any glued-on pieces they might just come adrift as well.

It's worth a shot though if you were going to bin them anyway.

My mistake, I meant nitrile rubber, they last much better in the workshop.

They are much stronger and would certainly be my preference if I were a proctologist ;)

The latex ones work just as well for a once-off.

Will try the thinners thanks.

The stans inside the tyre is old and sticky and has almost coated the fingers on my gloves making them sticky as well and unusable hence wanting to bin them. Other option is cutting the full fingers off but not keen on open fingers in a crash.

I do actually carry the nitrile gloves and have a box in my bike toolkit but I'm all out hence no nitrile on the ride.

Agreed. I use the same. For rides, I use the single use jobs.

Huh? I'm being misquoted here

But, yes, I agree. They are about R80 for a box of 100 at Dischem now.
