Really torn as to what are good MTB shoes on the market in this price range. Have a pair of specialized but after pricing they are now way to expensive and had problems with the rachet system.

Any advice will be appreciated.

You can go much cheaper. My Olympic shoes cost R650 and I'm using them for 2 years now, without any problems. And the Maxed shoes at Mr Price Sport is even cheaper and works just as fine.

Why would you want to pay 2k for shoes???

After trying various shoes the Specialised were the best for me.

Are you looking for carbon soles?

surely you can find the normal shoes within that range.

Cool thanks for all the help. I really like my specialized in terms of comfort. Good idea to maybe look at the ones for about 1k without the ratchet system.Only question is does the strap not stretch with use? Supersywurm I have been riding for about 4 year now and if I have learnt one thing in cycling if you can afford it "Goed koop is duur koop!" Just my humble opnion as the kind of rider and riding I do my equipment takes a good beating! But this topic could be a whole new thread on its own.

Sheperd just checked your thread out and I love those 2014 Spez Comp shoes that you bought!

Where did you get them from and how much did you pay?

Never had any problems with the straps stretching or anything like that.

Been using these for quite a few years now and put a lot of hard km's on both pairs I have owned.

Quality and durability is really great.

Have a look at the Suplest range from CWC. I only got the road shoes, but they are super comfy and seems to be very good quality, and very stiff carbon sole. Quite a bit cheaper than the Specialized range i think.

A mate has the MTB shoes and he cant be happier.

Like I said in the post I tried on the 2013 model of the same shoe and the 2014 fit like a glove... I seem to have a wider front part to my foot which was squeezed into my other shoes which feel so much better.

I got mine from the Specialized Concept Shop in Ballito, KZN... They are listed for R 1999 but got a slight discount from there as well.

Good luck with your purchase.

Kind Regards,

Tim
