Changing components need help

Hi if anyone could help me. I've got spare bike with 8 speed cassette I want to upgrade it to 9peed.

I've got 9speed cassette and rear derailer And front derailer and I've got the shifters and brakes.

Do I need to change the front rings ? Thanks

Depending on what you have, you only need to replace the shifters and cassette. Most 8speed rear deraileurs will work with a 9 speed set up.

Thanks Hi I will need to put a 9 speed chain as well ? Only reason I'm doing this I don't want to put wear on my new bike. So I want use my old mtb bike for training on the road
