But be aware that the formula is dependent on the method used to assess PPO.

 

Different protocols elicit different values for PPO (which is an arbitrarily defined value based on maximal work load achieved during an incremental protocol). Longer protocols or step protocols result in lower values and vice-versa.

 

This manuscript's formulae are applicable to a 20W/min continuous ramp protocol.
