Hi

I have posted this here as I do not know where is the best forum to host this query. I need to get some info from the Wannabees club. I have e-mailed charles, but I am not getting a reply.

Any Wannabees out there to help me please?

Feel free to PM me if you haven't got a response. Can put you in touch with some of the guys.

Anything specific you were looking for?

Yes, thanks for coming back.

I am trying to join the club, in fact, I want our whole family to join in one go, but the process on the website does not cater for it, it seems. It wants you first to join as a main member, and only once accepted does it allow for other members to join.

My son needs to join since he is part of the Parel Vallei cycling team, and I thought it good that all of us join. Me, the wife and 2 sholars.

PS: Sorry for only coming back now. I was hunting for a cylinder head for our Hyundai Getz Diesel, which it seems is almost unobtainium from third party suppliers. Anyway, not gonna bore you okes with that soap opera.

walker, blatant highjack.

what heart rate do you ride when you do the 400km + rides ? what zones do you train in ?

@slowby...you should know...zero heart rate!! One has to be brain dead to do those type of rides... :whistling: :whistling:

Cassie's not entirely wrong there - for the long audax rides, I leave the HR monitor at home. If I'm anywhere near a zone where I'm thinking about HR then I'm drifting into DNF territory.

Guessing for the 600 in March will aim at something around 27 or 28 hours ride time, and probably 33 to 35 overall. That makes for a low enough Avg speed that HR should never really rise too much. If an audax route has big climbs on it, I'll stick an 11-28 on so I can climb in the saddle at low intensity too

Edit: One guy on LEL reckoned by the 3rd day, even if he tried his HR would not go above 80 - some kind of physiological effect on ultra endurance that the blood becomes more efficient at carrying oxygen. Have no way to verify this, as I didn't have an HRM on

Thanks guys. Charles got hold of me via e-mail. Just did the payment for the fees. Hope to see you around.

Cool, glad you came right. See you out there!
