Looking at the heading now it probably does not make sense, but i need to know.

Talking about 29er Hard-tail only here.

Love the look of the Merida Niner 1000 and it has good components and is fairly lite.

Rocky mountain, a more plain looking bike but built quality i think is better and with just as good components on.

I do more XC and search for technical single tracks when i ride.

Price for both is roughly the same

Which one is best to go if say i want to buy for a stage race like W2W ?

Comments / Advise please ??

Thanks

Okay here is my opinion and it is pretty much biased to RM. Firstly stage racing on a hard tail ...if ur in ur 20's and can take a hammering then great but HT is a HT even if it is a 29er. I have not ridden a Merida and I am not a big fan of their Geometry. I ride a Full Susser ELEMENT and it just handles beautifully and it suits my short torso long legs and it takes a beating like a red headed stepchild. The sizing is tricky so if u ride a Medium u would go Large for RM. I know it is with an FS in mind vs HT but it gives you a general idea on the brand and how it handles and what body type it should suit.
