Good evening ,

Thank you once again to every rider that supported us the weekend .

Jip there we slipped and fell ! So with plasters on the elbows , cotton wool in our noses & ointment on our foreheads , we good to go . . It was our first and most certainly not our last !

We have had comments that we can build on . Our biggest weakness was our route marking . Here there will be GREAT improvements . Watch this space , as we will keep you posted as to the planned changes .

Please give us a hand by giving us as much feedback as you can , Good or bad .

  • Where did we slip ?
  • How can we improve ?
  • Any other suggestions ?

The results : Please use the following link : www.lsvh.co.za , Gauteng North Cycling is working on the results and committed to have them ready by Thursday ... I'm nit sure why it should take this long ...<p>The pics of the challengers : Both photographer's said their edited pics will be available for download from Thursday onwards . Between the 2 of them there have taken more than 1000

Thanks AntonMy 1c worth -¤perhaps mark the different routes (55, 35, etc) with different colours. The colour then should correspond with the colour number board. Also, maybe use the ugliest brightest colours that are easiest spotted?¤one thing I did not pay attention to - the waterpoints. Cold (half-frozen if its hot) water sachets are easier handled than screw top bottles. The sachets should also be held out to the riders. Stopping unneccesary just messes you up. Again, apologies if this was the case. I did not pay much attention to the waterpoints whilst I was searching for the route . . :)¤the start (loading boxes) and finish areas were good. In general, the relaxed farm atmosphere and surrounds, were nice. And the terrain itself was a good challenge - you could not rest as you had to work constantly. Thanks again Edited by cjlieben

Thanks guys for an awesome race. We were fortunate enough to be not too far behind the lead bike for most of the race and therefore only got lost once for a few minutes.

Best way I have seen marking is with different colour dayglo paper stickers.

One on the left means your on the right track and going in the right direction.

Two on either side means a turn coming up to that side.

Three on either side means caution.

If you then see one on the right you know that you're going in the wrong direction, the rest is pretty easy.

I have seen this used with great success in the very rural parts of the Eastern Cape with stage races such as the Lord of the Chainrings, never got lost once. The paper stickers are also biodegradable if anyone should be concerned about that.

Apart from that nice route. Won't make the one on 10 May but will be there again soon.

Keep up the good work and don't be discouraged by idiots commenting that they would never do the race again blah blah blah.

I will bring two guys next time for every one of those "kitties" ;)

I will be there for the next one. You have many guys in the area that can ride the route a day or two ahead and advise / mark the route. Just ask the Hubbers.

Maybe I'm missing something, but cannot find the results anywhere on the link provided?

As it states "Gauteng North ... blahblah ... committed to have them ready by Thursday" .... eish and today is Tuesday ... .... Can't wait to see the pics - this was a serious "muddy mess" ... but nothing good old OMO can not handle .... It seems getting lost was the norm, but all in all it was great fun, no serious climbs, no serious technical stuff, just MUD ... lekker lekker !

Any news on the pics?

I sent de Wildt off roader a pm and he said I should send him my mail address. He will forward me what he can. As soon as I get something I will try and setup a drop box folder with the pics.

I have also mailed the school and they said they are just waiting for a new website to be launched sometime within the next week. Apparently the pics will be on the new site but I'm not sure.
