Question re elevation change

If we look at what Garmin reflects as elevation xxxx m for a trip

 

is this calculated as m climbed and descended, or just the climb component?

Assuming Garmin reports similarly to other GPS services.

Doesnt ignore it no.

 

Just depends on what you want to see.

G, it depends on which data field you have selected.

 

AFAIK, there are the two mentioned by Tankman, which show the total over the ride/run, as well as the elevation field, which shows the current actual elevation in metres, not necessarily the amount of metres climbed.
