Hey Hubbers

We were involved with and did all the course & route planning for the GPS Navigation.

So far everyone seemed to enjoy it. Not too many hassles and we were with the riders for all 9 days sorting out any issues and problems that crept in with regards to there GPS units regardless of where they purchased the GPS and what was wrong.

We ironed out most issues and have a few ideas for both the Sani2C and Joberg2C to make the routing better and a better experience for all.

Watch this space as there are a couple of other races interested in using GPS navigaton.

Sani2C routes will follow shortly.

Why not put your R5000 GPS to good use and use all the functions.

In summary for the first year it went really well and it can only get better from here.

Regards

EasyBike

might be reading this wrong, but wasn't the whole point of GPS nav to take out the need for route markings/marshalls?

Or did they only have a few along the way, as opposed to every 200m?

I think it's an awesome idea, and respect to J2C for having the balls to adopt it.

HOW DID YOU GUYS GO THIS YEAR AROUND COMPARED TO LAST, AND DID YOU RIDE WITH DIRK AGAIN

Hey Dips, I rode with a new partner who was a bit slower than Dirk but we had a blast. No saddle sores this year!

Thanks for this, did not know you could load route info on an Edge 500... you learn something new everyday!! :)

Edge 500 worked perfectly. You need to load the routes using Garmin Connect as opposed to directly on to the device, but it was very easy to do and as mentioned above there were people at registration to help.
