hboli4 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Was wondering, do some of the guys ride down to PA or is not allowed? I guess you don't really want to spend more time than necessary on the bike but would be lekker to do?

I guess you don't really want to spend more time than necessary on the bike but would be lekker to do? You can ride down unless the team car collects you to aid recovery for tomorrow. For mere mortals riding down is the only option. I took a 10min break at the top last year before heading down. Your arms and hands are dying half way down already. You cant take in TOO much scenery cause you can loose it easily! Got about a 8km flat road before you get to the village - by that time you are spent.

You ride down on your bicycle to Prince Albert and enjoy the magnificent view of the Swartberg Mountains, it's all downhill.
nathrix Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Way too dangerous. After that stage you are spent. Had a 10min rest at the top last year before descending casually and almost lost it more than once. Turns are too tight - racing down there would be suicide!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your arms and hands are dying half way down already. Haha, we raced from Calitzdorp all the way over the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert in 2009 and raced it in the opposite direction in 2010 Btw, i just tried to survive, didn't race
nathrix Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 @bridgeCPT: 1/3 Hi All, today's results have been delayed due to a few rider protests after the #SwartbergShowdown .protests are not unusual and now...

Think we may see a bit of a fightback from the Bulls today.. hope so.. will make for great racing. Hope the Saffas aren't going to regret opting for hardtails.. what am I saying they dashed for the cash damn sure they won't implode completely. So money should be safe.

The will be riding long dusty sand roads, through some very sandy dry Karoo river beds, through and up Grootsleutelfonteinreserve, it's absolutely desolated place riding past old windmills creaking on song with your bicycle along the way, see the white empty ghostly tortoise shells and then through the stunning Meirings poort nature reserve past the dam into Meirings poort along the road to the small hamlet of De Rust. It's gong to be hot and fast out there today.
