Event Name: BUFFET OLIVES MTB CLASSIC
When: 26 October 2014
Where: Buffet Olives farm, Paarl, Western Cape
Category: MTB

Short Route: 14KM

Starting amongst olive groves and easy farm roads for the first 6km, you will be well warmed up by the time you hit the first climb on this varied, spectacular course. From the top of this climb, the Short Route will wind its way back down a fast but wide downhill, then a short flat section pass a dam before the last small hill thrown in for good measure before the finish.

Long & Medium Route: 42KM & 25KM

The Long & Medium Routes continue on forest roads with spectacular views and down hills with good doses of single track. The Medium Route returns to the finish, whereas the Long Route continues along the Klein Drakenstein mountain slopes before heading home on this challenging, but captivating course.

Kiddies Route: 5KM

There is also an easy 5km loop amongst the olive groves. Spectators are welcome to picnic under the trees and watch the fun. There will be food & drinks for sale and jumping castles for the children.

its the day after the Chris Willemse Derbie Dash but maybe I will be in need of some MTB and this was an excellent race last year (despite my less than impressive endo while very high on a mountain). Havent ridden in Paarl since start of the year and it is truly lovely out there.

This is my favorite race.  Was my first MTB race ever and I absolute love this race. Awesome route with the smoothest singletrack you can find  under the trees. I missed last year but are going to make a effort to do it this year.

Rode the 42km last week to check the condition of the course, here is the latest up-to-date profile...

How much is the elevation for th 25km, as per the previous profile it said 40km 1000m and now its 1500m. Is the 25km 400m or 600m?

Please use latest profile posted. Bear in mind that this is generated on Google Earth, which is not 100% accurate. According to my Garmin profile (which of course is more spot on), elevation gain is 1225m. So let's work on +-1200-1400m.
