The rear shock ( DT Swiss ? ) on my Scott Spark has collapsed. How do I measure this shock for replacement ? Will a RP23 fit , including the lock out function on the bike.? This may have been asked many times before , my apologies.

Thanks. Please confirm that you were able to connect the lock-out. I see there is a RP23 for sale on the Hub. Will go for it if you confirm.

My scott had a dt swiss shock as well and my replacement was a rock shox morarch. No remote lockout but my frame has all the cable routing to be able to do that. Scott also has the same routing so in theory it should fit just fine....

Post the link to the shock so we can just make sure if you don't mind.

You will mount your shock with the lockout showing down. Make sure that the seller gives you the shock bushes with the shock. Everything should slip in perfectly.

Just remember that this shock does not have a remote lock out adapter fitted so your twin lever sistem will not work as it is now

The lockout is part of the shock so you will have to get a RP23 with a remote lockout. My advice is to loose the remote.

Which Scott Spark do you have? The 26" versions (as of 2012) have a longer shock than the 29" versions. On the 26ers the shock measures 190mm eye to eye with a 50mm stroke. Also, you might need to get the correct mounting hardware.

I replaced my DT Swiss with a Fox unit and its thee best thing I could have done.

I removed the lockout levers as I didn't really use them and I don’t miss them at all.

Thanks all. It is a 29er ( to my sorrow ) . I like the twin-lock, although it is tough to operate. ( Was the main reason I opted for the Scott in the first place )

. I don't want to ignite the 26 ver 29er topic again, but I'm sorry I went for a 29er and not a 650B. ( Anyone want to swap ? Ha ha .)

What fork do you have on there? If it's a Fox, you're going to battle to find a replacement for the Twinlock system besides the Fox Float CTD. If it's Rockshox, get a Monarch XX and an XX damper for the fork with a Full Sprint hydraulic lockout. The combo will cost about the same as a new Fox shock, and you'll have a bombproof hydraulic lockout that does fork and shock at the same time.

As a cheaper option, just get the shock serviced. It'll work again at a fraction of the cost of replacing everything, but unfortunately those DT air can seals are made of cheese and don't last long. One of my clients on the Epic went through 2 rebuilds in a week.

Edit: Brainfart removed.

Interested to know what you decide, how the Fox works and if you manage to find a way to link it to the Twinlock.

My DT Swiss off my Scott Spark RC is in for repair again - been without a bike for 1.5 weeks. This is my second shock, having replaced the first one under warranty. Now having to pay for a service this time. Useless. Think i need to look for another option!
