I was wondering how often I should be charging my batteries to get the most of them.

My system has no indicator and I usually ride for about 2 to 3 hours twice a week.

I have a 5200mAh - 4 cell ES Li-Ion battery pack attached to 1000 lumins light.

Appreciate some opinions on how best to charge for long life.

Ideal conditions for storage - 40% charged in a ziploc in the fridge. More charge and they'll degrade quicker, less charge and they run the risk of self-discharging below the safety threshold if left for too long. The lower the temperature the longer they'll last, but if they're too cold they'll run flat faster in use.

That batteryuniversity link that Skinnyone posted will tell you everything you ever need to know, and a few extras.
