I've got 2009 Racing 1's with shimano free body currently running 10sp. My new bike runs 11sp Ultegra so I need to fit an 11sp cassette. As technically challenged as I am, I can see that the current shimano free-wheel body will not take 11sp. What are my options if any?

I should add, LBS says it is possible to get a different Fulcrum freewheel hub body, but ASG don't have stock and takes 4 weeks and R1500 to order... Would anyone local have or is there another solution?

I use Racing 7's for training and bought them around then. My Campagnolo hub took my 11 speed cassette no problem, so is the Shimano spacing that much different?

I'm not that clued on road bikes but I'm sure I saw somewhere that with the road wheels most will take an 11 speed cassette, as the spacing is just closer together. Not like a MTB cassette where you need a special hub to take the 10t gear. But yes not 100% sure.

So just to close this out, ASG made a plan for me and kindly stripped the required free wheel body off a new wheel as they had no stock in the country so all sorted now. And re above speculation, there is a slight difference in width for Shimano 10 vs 11. I gather the 9 to 10's didn't have this issue as the 10sp's we actually narrower than the 9sp - so a spacer was just required. The jump to 11 is a mm or so wider so a different body is required for most wheels. Mavic I believe are the one exception and theirs are compatible with no new hub
