A Large BMC TeamElite has a longer Effective Top Tube length than a Large Niner Air 9, for example.

You need to look at the geometry of bikes, not just what the size is. Size doesn't mean much.

I'm 1.94m tall and ride the Large BMC TeamElite with a layback seatpost. Perfect fit.

That setup might work for you. I opinion will be your weight is all on the rear wheel and you front fork is not working enough to smooth out the ride. What i learned with motox is to put your weight on the front wheel in corners to turn tighter. ( not in the loose stuff of course) &,vs,, d,do,d x to

You don't sit on your arse when you're riding technical stuff. You're moving around on your bike all the time.

A 20mm layback post hardly takes the "weight" off the front wheel while seated. It makes the bike fit optimal, that's it. I'de rather have a layback seatpost than run a 20mm longer stem.

But i'm just a funrider, so what do i know....

I sat on a Large and it felt fine to me I'm 1.92

I visited the store and they told me I'm to tall for the bmc. Then tried to sell a bergamont in my size.

That would be perfect !

It's an interesting bike for the taller guys actually. Standard with a shorter stem and and 740mm bars. Also has a 120mm fork with a shorter head tube bringing the rake angle back towards XC standards... Each frame size has been very well thought out, they haven't just built a medium and scaled it from there, for example the XS and S come with 27,5 wheels...

Those Bergamonts have a nice ride, and not a bad price for it.
