Squatters on spruit.

Hi guys

New hubber os I hope this post is in the right place.

I haven't done the top part of the spruit before but was really surprised to see the amount of squatters on the section behind the pnp. Is it safe to ride there? Is someone doing something about it? It's a really scenic route but I ride with my wife and son. I don't want to take them to places that aren't safe.

Used to ride through there a lot, no issues but not pleasant is it 

 

Have been riding further up the spruit lately, much nicer (upstream, South of PnP)

You going to get lots of mixed responses on this one. 

 

I ride through there alone, but I ride fast and very aware of my surroundings. There has been an incident or two there so its not 100% safe.

 

For family riding I would advice riding from Conrad up, much safer and never any squatters or anything

been riding there for 2 years, early mornings and afternoons, weekends and week days, and never had an incident. like dogmatix mentioned, there were a few incidents but haven't heard of any in the last few months.

Like MTBc I also ride through there fairly regularly and haven't had any issues. Greet the guyls who are walking along the trail and most are quite frienfly.

Thanks. It just saddens me as it has a lot of potential but if there are any risks ppl just stop using it. Linksfield ridge is a good example of this. A private security company has now started patrolling the top above the farm. It's great to see so many people returning to the area and starting to use it to run and walk their dogs.

good heavens man! you can't just go around assuming they're squatters, just because they're sitting there and not cycling or jogging!

 

Isn't it pretty clear theat they're marshalls?!
