Nice work Miss H

How you intend keeping the tension on that chain?

One can run a SS without a tensioning device. Obviously it depends on if you want to use the same chain with different cog sizes then you'll end up with having the need for a tensioning device, but one can find that optimal chain length for one chainring-cog setup (not all combinations will be able to do this of course).

I have run it like that before and had no issues, but I do have a tensioning device lying around if it does become a problem with the jumping, but I'm keen to try at 1st without.

ooh! I like the loop of the brake hose! Can we expect tailwhips and barspins in the near future?

I think bar spins I'll leave till 2016...tailwhips maybe early 2015 ^_^ (couple of air bag sessions 1st though, the last close calls I have had on dirt made me almost wet my pants)

I still cannot do barspins or tailwhips, and I blame that purely on the fact that my brake hose doesn't loop.

It is because you have never spoken the magic words....

"if I do not get this right by ..'add date'... then I might as well sell my bikes"...

*these words ussualy comes after a toss of a bike and/or helmet*

Very very nice. Looking very good. Did you paint it yourself? Could you please give use some more details wrt your painting process. Have  a couple of old frames at home that needs some new colours.

Oh dear, I do not think I am the right person to ask about this, but yea I did the paint job myself (decals are stickers though with clear coat over it all). I do think it might be cheaper to send it to be done. There are many many forums already about guys doing it. BogusOne is the perfect guy to ask in this case.

Otherwise the tips I was given or picked up as I went along:

-if using rattle-can sprays then stick with the same make/brand for the base coat, colour coats and clear coats

- the shops I went (Builders) to buy the paints had only one make in the colour I wanted so I made sure that the surfaces it indicated to be used on is what I am working with. Also that it is 'sports friendly' - can be used in all conditions (like rain etc) and that it doesnt just peal/chip off (the pictures on the can had a bicycle, hemet and skate board on ...I can not remember the name of the make)

- I left at least a day drying between each layer and did about 4 white base layers (because my colour is lumo) and then about 4-5 colour coats and 2-3 clear coats. It sounds a lot, but the paint came out quite thin though (have had no tolerance issues)

- make sure you have loads of patience if you are not making a "fun bike". getting the colour perfectly the same all over is an art and I guess one needs the practise.

that magic gear will wear eventually .... so keep that tensioner on hand :)

1st little air with Pink Panther...it was maybe not the best one because the landing is quite flat and me bing new to this HT thing it sent a bit of a shock through my body...

edit: Only running back brake for now. Makes quite a difference.

Just imagine how big your future hits on the full suss will be when you can compress better landing jumps on this rig??

What's the motivation in running with the back brake only?

I am lending the front to a friend that really needs it :)

I must say the only thing I have missed on that side of the handlebar is my dropper post lever.

(I go so slow anyway)

Schweeet! Figured it was something weird keeping the front off the bike.

As long as it's both slow and fast enough to make the gap you're on the money! Pic seems like you're cashing in.

I have a spare set of brakes if you need in the short term - nothing special, but they work

Thanks, but I can take one off the 'bike that never gets used anymore and just hang on the wall' too, but this is quite an experiment. A fellow hubber (Mr. Christmas Tree have done most of the Cascades DH track with only a rear brake so I think I will be able to handle the Spruit with just the back.) ^_^
