Hi All,

I just read a disturbing few lines from the Urban MTB Assalt thread, basically I noted a person "j'sbella" posted a comment on their being two types of Mountain Bikers, those that stop and offer help etc and those that don't etc, J'sbella indicated that to Riders with beaver / bear gear would not go into the water and one said **** him and that he would ride over him, and thereafter a picture of three riders was posted asking if this was the guys.

I'd just like to say that I am one of the guys in the picture, specifically the guy wearing the yellow fox jersey, i'm writing this thread as I can only assume that this is a case of mistaken identity, or possibly a prank, of which I could not see why someone would do something like that.

Firstly I would like to send my condolences to the husband of j'sbella and to j'sbella herself for having to hear something of that nature, as I assure you that would not come from my mouth, what I can add is that I came across two injured riders in the open aquaduct, whereby the one had a medic with them, and shortly after I saw another person whom looked in serious pain, that person had a woman with him, I  told them that they shouldn't worry, and that the medics are just up the road, the lady said yes they know and the medics will be coming as soon as they can.

In addition I was also one of the guys not only coming down the ramps but also carrying someone else's bike whom were obviously battling.

I would also add that the three of us were not racing in this race but merely enjoying the ride, (hence out headgear) we were in no hurry to pass people, and most definitely would also not worry about riding in the water...

I can also add that in a prior race "Bundu Bash" someone fell behind me as I crossed trails, and I felt so bad that I did stop and check if they were ok but also rode slowly and checked three times during the race to make sure they were ok to continue...

I am also one of those luck candidates who have broken their Collar bone, at Modder and most definatelly respect the injured and help where possible..

This may sound like a log winded mail, however I consider my nature to be of a giving and helping kind, the mail indicates otherwise... I would assume that my friends also would not say the words that had been said, and I would assume the lady would have seen the picture and indicated that those were not the people in question, however in case the lady does not see the pics or does not reply, I strongly feel the need to say something...

As I am the last person to say something like that, and condone anyone of that nature....

Don't stress, if you continued a few posts further into the thread you would have seen that she did indeed reply, saying that the rider in question was not on the photo and wore a full suit/onesie.

This thread might still be a good idea to keep your name clean, if you missed her reply there are probably more people that did so.

Thanks for the feedback RVDM1 and Uni, its appreciated, I was stressing, and my buddy on the photo was fuming... I fully agree with the lady, but also felt the need to clear my name as I go out of my way to help people, appreciate you guys for your post...

jurre but there has been lots of bitching about this event...

You can say that again... I actually find it quite amusing, I try to put myself in the mindset of those people bitching about having mountains in their mtb race and what-have-you, interestingly enough it takes me back to my days as a toddler.
