Know your bike

So I've been "trolling" these forums for some time now. For all that time I have been a roadie and do not know much more about the other disciplines of riding. Even tho I read about cyclocross and dual sus, hardtails, etc. everyday - I can't seem to match up which bike matches with which discipline. Also the differences in the disciplines as well such as downhill, mountain bike, enduro...

I want to start a thread explaining all the disciplines of riding and the rigs best suited to those disciplines. Hopefully it will get more ppl interested in trying out other disciplines of riding

Road:

Terrain: On tarred roads

Bike: Road bike

Special Gear: Standard riding kit

Fixie:

Terrain: Wherever mass is held

Bike: One gear, no brakes - brake by slowing your pedal stroke as the gear is directly connect to the movement of the pedals

Special Gear: Whatever mass thinks is cool

Please add your input and I will update this post

Thanks

Fanie I am disappoint that you did in no way mention compression garments .... that can be worn on or off the bike at training or social events :whistling:

Don't these fall under the category "Most expensive"?
