Tubeless conversion - kenda or Maxxis?

Hi there...

i'm considering doing a tubeless conversion...

I've got a tubeless on the back already (Maxxis Crossmark) and want to convert the front as well.

Currently have a Kenda Koyote at the front which I really don't like...but that's one option for the conversion anyways...

The other two options are a Kenda Small Block Eight and a Maxxis Larsen TT which are on my other bike at the moment... So those are the other two options...

I know none of them are specifically tubeless tyres, but which would be best, for now at least? Or should i just go down to the shop and buy another crossmark? (it's for the front - so if buying a new one is the only option - any other suggestions of tyres that work well are welcome)

Thanx guys!

Go to the shop and buy an Maxxis Ardent for the front. Fantastic combination with the Crossmark rear

Agreed Ardent/Crossmark..

My choice for home (Karkloof)

Has done Hill2Hill/Berg&Bush/Karoo2Coast/Dr Evil and numerous shorter races.

Is slightly heavy rolling on the front, but really easy to seal and works in all conditions.

What's the price for the Ardent? Doing upgrades on both the MTB and road bike, so will do everything when budget allows...but the Ardent sounds awesome and will definitely get round to buying one in the next few months.

Romanr03 - so you reckon the Larsen could work tubeless for a while, just to get the conversion process started?

Ardents can be had for anything from R400 to R750 depending on where you buy. Good ballpark is about R550-R650. And yes it is very awesome with a crossmark on the rear. The Larsen and the Kenda are both more rear tyres. But I know the Larsen does work relatively well front as well. As for it working tubeless. Worst thing is it doesn't. So go for it, should be fine.

O ja...also - what slime do you use? Couldn't get the one hole to seal for a whole ride with the Ryder Latex sealant (never going to buy that ever again!)

Bought Fug It 2 days ago...on the heavier side, but works a charm so far - plugged the hole i've been having trouble with perfectly! Plus it's a local product and eco friendly...

Stans in my new bike, Joe's in the other. Working like a charm in both.

oh wow...that's quite reasonable, actually! Will shop around a bit to see where i can find one at a good price. Thanx!

haha, okay...so the Larsen will go on the front in the next week or so...will keep you guys posted on how it turns out...because at this stage anything seems better than the Koyote - i don't know if it's just me...but it sucks in cornering.
