Hi All,

I currently have two MTBs running 68 x 113 mm ISIS drive bottom brackets. they seem to only last a year if I am lucky. Currently have Truvativ Gigapype in both, but the bearings does not last. I have tried alternative with brands as well, which I won't name, and bent one's axle and snapped the other one clean off, resulting in a fair amount of damage to myself.

I have tried doing research to find out if I can convert to hollowtech bottom brackets, but cant seem to find enough info online. The Isis drive is english/ISO thread if I am correct?

Can I convert to a hollowtech bottom bracket? and what implications will there be apart from needing new cranks?

Thanks in advance

You can convert to external type, but as you say you'll need a whole new crankset.

Other than that you'll just need to get the BB shell faced, your LBS should sort this out for you without bankrupting you.

Hi Droo, Thanks for the response. What do you mean with faced?

I can answer that one. Basically they cut it flat removing a little metal so the cups line up and the axle of the hollowtech crank runs true on both sides.

Ahh, Makes sense. Thanks. Will inquire this at my LBS
