I was 59th in the short distance, but I took it quite easy. Still happy with it. BrandonF_ 1
Ratty Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Lekka man, lots of hubbers riding. I saw so many in hub kit and hats. Who were the guys in the Maroon Toyota? One guy was wearing a really cool angry birds shirt.
Dicky DQ Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Results are on the website event page. It was easy. Come on. The only tricky bit was the super steep climb with all the baby head size rocks which, by the looks of things, everyone walked anyway. The singletrack was all basic, they made Jonkers into a borefest and with such long stretches of tar and flat jeep track it felt absolutely no different to any other MTB marathon. If people found that technically challenging or difficult they need to spend more time riding their bike on trails and less time worrying how much stuff weighs and whether their helmet matches their new bottle cage. Sorry. I sound like a sour grape and, well, to be fair I am. After all the marketing hubbub it was disappointingI think we chatted about that today near Pniel. Just before I had to convert my steed to a single speed. I really chose the wrong gear. So you learn.
Ratty Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Penny Pinchers Origin of Jeeptrack... Thought I was the only one that felt like that. Was very disappointed. The singletrack that we did ride can be ridden any time with no traffic.. However I thought today was a lot better. Really enjoyed some of the tracks. Dicky DQ 1
Kakeochi Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Tomorrow is a horse of a different colour... Some of those climbs towards the end will hurt. Those of us without gears shall need to save a bit in the tank in order to get home smiling. I enjoy riding my bike, I enjoy the feeling of a race, but when lines like 'Jonkershoek like you've never seen it before' get so flagrantly misused I get upset. I expected more. The product does not match the marketing, regardless of whether it was fun or not. But I digress and sound like one of the usual moaners and gripers which I am not...I just feel duped and for that I am disgruntled, mostly at myself for allowing their marketing swindle to lure me in when deep down inside I knew, I knew!Hey Guy, please can you contact me or Mathew from Cotic. Sent you a PM, been trying for weeks to get hold of you for the two Roadrat frames you have on consignment. Guessing your mobile number has changed?
