Hi Guys and Gals, I am considering doing an upgrade on my current road bike - Silverback Monterey, Carbon Frame, 9 speed Tiagra groupset, is it worth my while to go 10 speed 105 and maybe Carbon Wheels or should I sell it and take the cash towards a new bike? I will be using the old parts for my wife's bike. - any views will be appreciated.

If iam you, save a little extra and buy a complete bike out of the classifieds section on this forum.

Always lots of bargains floating around esp in the x/s-s and the large-x/large range.

Agree with Malpiet. Upgrading to 10 speed will cost about R2500 or more and carbon wheels another R8000. Saw a couple of Merida Scultura Evo's 10 speed for about R12000.

The first decent upgrade on a bike is new wheels.

End of the day you need to ask yourself what are your long term goals.

With that said that said upgrade are pricey and such an old bike might not really benefit from it.

That's if you want something lighter.

Take a look at the options available to you.

You can find some good almost new bikes on the hub.

Good luck on what ever you choose.
