Beginner rides from Broadacres

Hi all

 

I have just started road cycling (have always been a runner) and am looking for a group riding from Broadacres/The Cradle, especially during the week. My fitness is decent but my cycling skills are shaky! At the moment I am up to 45ks with a 24km/h average.

 

I am in JHB over the whole festive season, and am really keen to do some longer rides. Don't feel that comfortable riding on my own.

I'm not sure whether there are any group club rides this time of the year, however a better bet than Broadachres might be to drive into the Cradle and cycle from one of the hotels/wedding venues (Valverde is one). Its pretty safe in the Cradle with cycling lanes whereas Cedar road from Broadachres to the Cradle can be a little hair raising

Saw this thread and the low response. Hope you got a ride or two together.

 

My wife and I drive to Modderfontein and then do a +-80km ride out to Bapsfontein. We prefer this ride as you get into the countryside quicker and the roads are pretty quiet and have a good surface.

 

We are going again tomorrow am if you would like to join us? We live in Rivonia and could travel together (could also transport your bike for you).

 

Last week we rode with a huber who had only ever done a 30km long ride.
