Merida 2014 or 2015

I have narrowed down my search for a road bike to 2 bikes, one is a 2014 merida scultura carbon frame, 10 speed ultegra gearshifters at R15000 and the second one is a 2015 Merida aluminium frame, 105 gearshifters, 11speed R14000. Which one would you advise me to buy? I have been riding a mountain bike for 6months and never rode a road bike before.

Go with the 2014 Scultura.  Better components and much lighter frame.  The 1 extra gear will make very little difference in your life as a relative nuubie to road riding.  What size cassette is on the 2014?  Try go for a 10 - 28 or similar.

I just called the shop now and they told me it is a merida scultura comp 904, size cassette 11-28.

Shop around and inform the bike shops that you would like a discount as its "old stock".

I once bought "the current year" bike instead of the newer one and despite the older one having better specs, the store owner gave it to me for close to cost price as he said his customers are more worried about having the latest stuff than the best spec'd option.
