Hi all was told this morning by the doc I had a viral infection. Slightly blocked nose and cough. Had to cancel mtb ride this morning. Thought I asked the real "doctors" on the Hub. Is it safe to take a chilled ride tomorrow on jeep track? I'm sulking at home not being able to ride. Wish I can get my hands on that Nelson guy of the gumtree scams while I have now time on my hands????

Not a good idea. Your doc is right viral infections and exercise can be fatal.look up viral cardiomyopathy which can cause your heart to seize and have a heart attack. In fit people it can be fatal as the heart literally stops beating properly (cardiac arrhythmia). Man people who have decided to run iut a flu or jog it out have collapsed and died. In most cases urgent defibrillation is needed to kick start the heart but given the circumstances of the collapse this intervention is out of question

I've always felt great after a ride if the cold is still in my head. If it's in your chest....get some rest. A course throat is a sure sign of good day to rather be washing your bike.

That's the advice my doc gave me.  In the head ride - neck down don't.
