  1. Hey Slowbee did you see me a black dude in the ride for rhino kit and rhino horn.was riding a black foldable 20inch bike. Had so much fun climbing those hills forgot to stop.did 2hr10min I think
  2. Not a good idea. Your doc is right viral infections and exercise can be fatal.look up viral cardiomyopathy which can cause your heart to seize and have a heart attack. In fit people it can be fatal as the heart literally stops beating properly (cardiac arrhythmia). Man people who have decided to run iut a flu or jog it out have collapsed and died. In most cases urgent defibrillation is needed to kick start the heart but given the circumstances of the collapse this intervention is out of question
  3. My experience with road rage is no one wins. Even if you come out tops and inflict pain physical or verbal on the other party you will still be mad with yourself and the feeling lasts long after the incident. Anger is a wasteful emotion it uses too much energy.
  4. Hi guys saw one of the general maintenance guys in Orange (grass cutters) pushing a blue and white GT 29er from Eastleigh Ridge towards Greenstone around 08:30 am. Looked suspicious. Anyone missing a similar bike might want to check the area
  5. I am not sure the safety of cyclists is being highlighted here. Here is a cycling forum (the affected) and we are not even agreeable on the msg. A better less controversial picture would have done the job. Here the msg is lost in controversy and racial innuendos. To make it worse 94.7 station doesn't have the guts to stand by something that is supposed to promote their new image branding. On the other hand perhaps the hub community can put up something that will counter this picture and put the situation in proper perspective.
  6. Am black and a cyclist however I don't understand white humour sometimes. Whats funny about a tragedy (cyclist being knocked down) and a racist slur (taxi driver depicted as a dog).I don't condone how taxi drivers drive but at the same time us cyclists we are not blameless too. If the racial connotations of this picture make it to the general black public and especially taxi drivers 94.7 as a station may have put cyclist's lives at serious risk. The taxi drivers are already reckless now you give them a reason to bash us!!!!
  7. Ha ha ha Lol François. However I do concur with the other guys here. Nothing beats a proper physical examination by a good doctor preferably your regular doc. The opinion given here is a best guess based on the info given. Pain which affects your daily activities and or wakes you up at night is sinister enough to seek expert advice. Good luck though.
  8. I don't think its related to the bladder. I think you had an episode of intermittent testicular torsion when the spermatic cord twists the blood flow is cut and the pain excruciating. It might spread to your abdomen with cramp like feeling. You may feel like wanting to urinate more frequently or even empty your bowels but does not relieve the pain.pain goes away gradually as the cord untwists and restores blood flow. Bladder pain as you described will be from reverse ejaculation which is uncommon and certainly not with the activity you were doing. Passing a stone through the urethra may do that but usually its with passing urine and its really painful.a tear or two is more aptly described as screaming like a girl. Hope it helps.
  9. I am 1.73m and weighing 93kg. Black guy not the best cyclist around but working hard to improve my times. My lipids are within normal range but am hypertensive on co- diovan. Ho does one balance high protein high fat diet with reduced sodium intake which will drive my blood pressure up. Do the same diets like the Tim.Noakes one work on black people as little research is done based on us?
  10. There is actually nothing wrong with you. The opposite is true you're in peak health. Your heart rate is subject to your general physical condition. Inactive people especially obese ones have high heart rates and generally higher blood pressure. A kilo of fat adds about 16km of extra vessels for your heart to pump through. Fat is also deposited into the blood vessels narrowing them and making it harder for the heart to pump through resulting in higher heart rate and higher blood pressure. If you shed weight by exercise you reduce the load on your heart and each beat counts and easily satisfy your body's needs. Check on top athletes profiles especially cyclists you will see that average resting heart rate is 30 bpm.
  11. Sorry about that mate. On one of the audax rides I saw a kid in the farms in ekukhuleni Magalies on a 29er specialized I think. Clearly there was no way that kid could afford that bike. Question is what do you do in such a situation?
  12. Hit a pothole on my vintage Bianchi eros chromoly frame. Bike looked like a wheelchair post fall. Had bought the bike for about 5k. Was lucky no serious injuries as I somersaulted several times before landing on my back.

  14. I am riding for Wits paediatric palliative care fund for cancer children at Baragwanath hospital. I am also riding for my friend and colleague who lost a three year battle with acute lymphoma three days ago. My most significant 94.7 ride to date
