I'm a competitive XC/Marathon rider so am only looking at shorter travel, lightweight carbon race bikes with typically XT quality drivetrain, Fox CTD suspension - so ball park R50k - R60k budget. I've looked at various bikes: Giant Anthem, Rocky Mountain Element, Spez Epic, Trek Superfly. All are good bikes and like everything each has their pro's and con's. A left field consideration is the KTM Scarp Prestige 29er which is specced with Shimano XTR and various other lightweight, race orientated parts all at a rather attractive price on their 2014 model. The few info / tests / reviews that are available online are generally positive but there isn't enough detail or personal first hand feedback on longer term use of the bike to draw any meaningful conclusions. So if anyone has any real knowledge, first hand or otherwise, on this bike, please will you share. Thanks PS Please can we stick to the KTM and not a debate on what other options are available in my price range.
PoiZoNouZ Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 KTM are really good bikes. All the bikes you mention are great, you can not go wrong with any of them. Buy the one that appeals the most and has the best specs. I dig the colour of KTM bikes, but I am a TREK and Specialized fan.

The lines and designs are very nice.The top end road bike is very hot I have a 26" dual suss KTM, with full XT and its a great bike. I do think that the current pricing is a bit on the heavy side though...
boy racer Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I have a KTM Prestige Awesome bike. It's my third KTM I have had that I have sold off and upgraded. Good overall ride and spec for cash layout. My current KTM is full XX Sram with the orange colour..mmmmmm I Like allot
