Proper etiquette for reporting poor service

I think another big issue with bike shops and their service is that there is no general consensus amongst customers. I have seen numerous threads like this where a couple of people rave about one place, then others say it is the worst. Then somebody says somewhere else is great, then somebody says they are useless. Finding a shop that works for you is definitely trial and error (which it sadly shouldn't be).

Why do you want to report it? Go elsewhere.

Well, you see that is just it. You go elsewhere, but where? Then you start looking for a place with good reviews or places to avoid and you just can't find any useful information. As a collective the cycling community has a vast knowledge of cycle shop service quality, but as a man alone you are doing little more than stumbling around in the dark hoping to walk into a great bike shop. Odds are you'll walk into quite a few bad ones first. The way the whole show works at the moment just doesn't help the industry improve itself.
