The bakkie was parked inside the allocated parking, not out on the street. Bike was locked to the bakkie with a cheap combination lock, won't be using one of those again.

 

I think this is not the work of an opportunist. My guess is there is a syndicate operating at event like these. They arrive with a bike rack or van and blend in, then they start "shopping" and once a target has been identified they pounce.

 

To stop this kind of thing a trap or string needs to be setup.
