StealthCarbon Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Hi guys. Wanna know how we have been running our fatbike tyres tubeless without issues for almost 6 months now? 2 winds of Gaffa tape. Hole for the valve At StealthCarbon, we try get the tyre to seat without any sealant. That way we know there will be no issues with re-inflating a tyre after a puncture out in the field. With a good rim and tyre, you should have no problem seating it with a handpump. Add sealant via the valve. Another trick is to pull the tyre bead away from the rim and add sealand (using a syringe) between the tyre and rim wall. Messy but worth it. Do not do this in your mother-in-law's lounge!!! Inflate the tyre quite hard for the first ride. A few burps and it will then settle down. In subsequent rides you can go with lower pressure once you are confident of the seal.
