Hi All,

New to the forum but have been fiddling on thehubsa for quite a while now  :)

I have a Momsen AL126 and have been riding for about 2 years now. Looking at taking mountain biking a bit more serious this year (ie do a few events like the ones at babba's lodge, Parys, Emperors etc) but not too worried about competitiveness, just want to enjoy it and not kill myself whilst doing a reasonable time (lets say 2/3rds in the pack if that makes sense). Aiming for the 30km-40km type events, maybe a longer one later the year.

I have changed the seat to a fizik Aliante XM, tyres to a Mountain King II (Front) / Race King (Rear) combo (still tubed) and clipless pedals and shoes but other than that no major upgrades. Proper bike setup also done.

Without breaking the bank, what would you guys propose I do to up the bike's ability keeping in mind the level I aim at riding at? New fork? Second hand one? (for example the R1500 grey Fox F100 RL available in the classifieds) Shifters? Groupset? Is it even necessary to change anything more at this moment?

Which parts are normally the "core" ones you look at and upgrade as skills and ability improve?

Thanks much appreciated.
