This is a LEKKER race...64km is 2 loops - first half of loop is nice and easy, second half is "real" mountain biking (i.e. technical, straight up and lekker down).

DEFINITELY worth the hour's drive from Joburg.

Nice to hear about this too....I've asked others about it and nobody knows anything about this event  . What are the numbers like (number of entrants)?

A few dozen riders at most - you hardly see another cyclist on the route - more cows than people!

This is a tough race but you can bail after a single lap if you don't feel like another one.

Beautiful scenery, tough ascent (1,260m) and a lovely descent, mostly through a tree-covered kloof, with some awesome, challenging singletack.

The route marking is a bit obscure at times and it was hot but still lots of fun.

Also, it's an easy 70minute drive from Jhb using the highway down to Potch.

Afterwards, you can shower and then have a few beers and braai - everything is available.

Nice, I do want to give it a try.....besides, I like events with more cows/animals than people. Thanks for the info
