Gary Fisher rear shock issues

HI I have an old Gary Fisher Sugar MTB, but the rear air shock seems to have an issue. The bike stood for a couple of years. Now my son is using it, but in December the shock lost all pressure. I had it serviced and it was fine up to now. Now same story. I pump it, but an hour later no pressure, Is it possible to replace the shock with something else, or is a service/seal replace the best bet?  See pic attached

I am not familiar with that shock but in general shock (and fork) seals don't like to stand around for long periods.  They tend to flatten out and harden when not used.  I've even seen it on unused forks that have been stored.

The air can only leak past the piston seal,  around the top cap or through the inlet valve.  Remove the shock, pump it up and drop it into a bucket of water to see if you can see where it is leaking from.

As to seals it depends what is in there.  If they are o-rings it is relatively easy sorted.  To change the shock you need the measurement from eye to eye (and air can diameter?) to match the new shock.

Noah phoned, he wants his bike back...

Best bet is to measure the fully extended length and see if there is a Rockshox or Fox unit that will fit, as those Cane Creek units went out of production at least 10 years ago so to find spares will be like looking for rocking horse poo...
