TREK fork upgrade.

Hi guys.

 

I am looking to purchase a Trek superfly 5, with a XC30 fork . But is it possible to upgrade the fork then at a later stage?

 

It needs to be then another trek fork to have the same taper (E2) geometry right?

 

Or can the type of fork be ordered by sram?

 

I quite like the superfly I would just like a bit better specced fork, because currently I dont have the extra cash for a superfly 6 .

Trek doesn't make forks. 

 

What type of headtube does your bike have? Is it a straight or tapered steerer? That will be one of the factors you'll have to consider when upgrading.

It is 1.1/8" - 1.5" Tapered . According to the Trek website, this is a common measurement.

You get nearly every new fork in this version.

Remember, you'll also need to make sure that your intended upgrade fork does not exceed the recommended travel for the bike.

Hi, yes planning just to put n better rockshox model like a recon on but still just 100mm travel.

I would say, you can go to 120 mm if you feel the need of a bit more travel.

RS and Fox both bring in G2 forks, you won't have a problem. At worst it'll be a special order and you'll have to wait a few weeks.

G2 = 'special' offset right? think a few posts above ate missing this point.

 

question is, how does a Trek handle with a 'normal' offset fork?
