First Aid

After a very traumatic ride on  Saturday where one of our group members passed away of a presumed heart attack it has lead me to believe we all need to be a little more informed on emergency procedures. Even though CPR procedures were followed none of us really new to what extent the trauma was. As a group or just riding with a buddy one should have ICE numbers in your phone along with emergency numbers ie. 911 SAPS etc. Most times we are out on a trail somewhere far out with no way of relaying direction and this where a GPS would be handy and knowing exactly how to get your co-ordinates in a calm (panic) situation.

We all want to be technically skilled in fixing bikes and riding by doing courses but have never thought about doing a full-on first aid course.

So my questing is where can one do a first aid course with enough knowledge to provide care until real help arrives?

I'm sorry to hear about your mate! RIP

Hi Gornilla,

Sad news. I hope something like that never ever happens while I am out enjoying myself.

I have done the StJohns  course etc, but without practice the skills are soon forgotten. We need constant practice.
