Firstly, what a well organised event at a great venue.

Secondly, we made the cut off with time to spare :-)

My only complaint, the heat. Otherwise we had a great ride. The roads are in much better condition than when I last rode it.

Oh and the pool at the end was just the best along with the tasty Cederberg beer

jeepers it was hard! I let the front 18 guys at 50km go when the big climb started, road with two guys up till 88km and then did a solo move till the finish. I started cramping from about 90km into the race, almost stopped to jump into that river on the right hand side.. The single track and sand after 115km was not so much fun... Will be back again next year!

jeez what a hecticly fantastic tough race. the heat played havoc and that last 20km was really a sanity test. the goody bag was fitting, the beer sweating cold and the pool refreshing. thanks to all the organisers. i had a swell time. will definitely be back next year. oh yes, got my tip-trans t-shirt too. great quality T i must add.

lol, I did jump into the river.  Twice...

first time was when we crossed the river close to Algiers.  Was dying of heat on that climb and could hear the river.  When I eventually got to a spot where we could access it, I had to fight through the crowds :-)  Had 2 guys standing on the bridge trying to convince me to swim naked, little did they know I was riding with my dad.....

2nd river was with about 8 km's to go.  I really don't cope well with heat, start feeling dizzy and sick and the cold water helps so much.

How awesome was it once we turned around and started the last bit towards the KOM.  Flew up that climb with the wind behind.  That was the section I was most worried about as 3 years ago it was badly rutted.  Now its almost like a tar road.

So, the big question, which way around is harder?

Agree, the new route seamed harder this year but the winning time is just 3min slower than 2014 and the same as 2013.  Just needed water in the last 5km`s with that heat.  Road will be nice and fast next year if the road works is completed.
