Please explain again - slowly for us not so mechanical minded

You take the broken link and another out by pushing the pin out with your chain breaker so that the two remaining ends will fit into each other.

When you push the pin out though, keep it.

Now line up the two ends of the chain (the solid centre part and the two loose outside parts) so that the holes are aligned.  Put them into your chainbreaker (which you have now screwed out almost all the way).  Take the pin you saved and check, normally there is one end which fits into the hole easier than the other.  Line the pin up with the hole and start turning on the chainbreaker so it starts pushing on the pin as soon as it is in the hole properly turn hard to seat it flush on both sides.

This is not easy but with some practice this can really save your day.

Try and keep the pin in................you develop a foreign language instantly when it does not want to go back into the hole.

hehehehe that you do the first time.  Biggest issue really is just keeping the chain slack enough (if you don't take it off completely) to get everything together ;)

Hi.

We were the boys who helped you out this morning. Anthis our fearless leader tried to use the link he had but I still had the old chain links from my 3x9. Dangerous place to get stuck. I ride a white full dynamix and am usually in my Gio plumbing and gas kit .

We don't belong to a club just some mates riding in good company.

Take care and ride safe.

Giorgio.

Well done for helping out! As has been said before, this is what cycling is all about.
