eddy Posted March 22, 2015 Share There are many that are good, but only one who is the best. Half a dozen hubbers on the first page of this thread cannot be wrong......
arendoog Posted March 22, 2015 Share I have had 2 sets of wheels built by Hatfield cycles and Epic cycles .I weigh 100kg and have never had any of problems with either .My Q is .When is a wheel badly built ? When is one set better than another ?
Morwa Posted March 24, 2015 Share Only one shop for wheels - SPOKEWORKS! Ruan is a genius when it comes to wheels.
Rudi Pollard Posted March 24, 2015 Share Last I heard is that Ruan only does rebuilds if you bought the original set from him. He won't rebuild just any set of wheels...
David Marshall Posted March 24, 2015 Share My Q is .When is a wheel badly built ? When is one set better than another ? Assuming the rim and hubs are a given it boils down to the spokes and the assembly. Spoke length and typeStress relievingSpoke seating on the hub flange Spoke tensionNipple choice and alignmentRadial and lateral truing On a well thought out wheel spokes don't break - if they do either the chain or something else damaged the spoke or the wheel was badly assembled. That is why wheel builders guarantee the spokes for the life of the hub or rim.
