Good day Hubbers

I would like to know if i should start servicing my Fox fork, by just doing the oil changes as it will work out a lot cheaper by buying a bottle of Fox oil for odd R400 then paying my LBS R180 every time.

Will it be an straight foreword job?

Do you guys recommended it or that the professionals do it?

Thanks in Advance!

Do you mean just the lower leg service or complete damper and air spring service?

If you are handy with tools, have access to Youtube, and have some patience, I would say give it a go yourself, for the lower leg service at least.

I have changed the lower leg oil on my Fox 32 RLC FIT, and it wasn't too much trouble.

You will need some basic tools, and you might have to buy a couple, but it shouldnt be too expensive. Oh and you probably don't have to buy the Fox branded oil, the right weight suspension oil can be bought from a motorbike shop for around R150, at least in JHB.

Check out a Youtube tutorial and see if it's something you feel you could do

Just remember, if you open the fork youself the warrenty is gone! But when you put the right oil back, like fox green, you can probably come away with it. Most bike shops are fox dealers so they may open the fork and the warrenty isn't compromised.

On the other hand I service my lowers on my BOXXER and I use Motul suspension oil, 15wt for the lowers. DH bike is so expensive to keep running that is why I am doing it self. I have to say I am very temted to open my Fox on my XC and service it, but to be honest I am to lazy.

Yes there is a lot of videos on the web, like they say google is your friend. The possibility that you screw up is very small. Just make sure you use the exact quantity of oil, it can make a difference.
