From QR to TA

Would it be worth it converting from QR to TA (on the fork side)?

My current Reba Dual Air (29er) still runs smooth but has a slight off-set problem: the wheel tends to flex towards the disc-brake side under loads. Now this isn't really life threatening and I don't really experience any rubbing with 2.2 tyres, but its just one of those annoying things. (Once noticed, cannot un-notice)

Sourcing the lowers and doing a swop will cost about 2K. And then there's additional costs of the wheelset...worth it or not?

That's generally a wheel problem, not a fork problem. Are all your spokes tight? What hubs are you running? If shimano - are the cones set correctly?

Checked and checked. Dishing was perfect. Other wheels were also fitted to see if the same problem persisted. Droo also confirmed that the issue was with the fork, not the wheels.

Meh. That sucks.

As for whether it's worth it - if you say it's a fork problem (and I'm also inclined to believe Droo) then the lowers replacement is your best bet, as ethically speaking you shouldn't really sell the fork on to someone else, who is just going to have the same problem as you.

Now - what hubs do you have atm, and do they have adapters?

If not - I have a 15mm hub that you can have for a case of beer. Brand new (almost) and in perfect nick - came off a wheel that I rebuilt across to a QR hub, and I don't run 15mm on any of my bikes so its just sitting here gathering dust...

If you've got the cash to burn, go for it. Something like that would drive me nuts everytime I get on the bike.

Recently went from a 9mmQR to a 15mmTA and the difference is amazing. Your wheel tracks the trail so much better.

Yep its a big decision. My rear-rim also needs replacement because of dings. I'm trying to gather my options as part of a "bigger picture" on upgrades/replacements. Eish, MTB'ing is higher maintenance than my GF

Thanks for the offer, will keep it in mind!

(currently have a OEM Shimano / Scott non-convertible hub)
