Sorry for your loss. Where the hell are these high end bikes ending up?

Sorry for the loss.

These bikes are getting stripped and the parts are being sold here on the hub...that is my opinion. Who questions the origin of a derailleur or a crank? Frame maybe but parts not.

Thieves are more likely to use Gumtree and OLX in my opinion.

I think more than 1 have ended up on here over the years.

I know I've bought a bike here that turned out to be stolen from a very respectable hubber staying in a very affluent area - he had bought the almost new carbon TT bike from a less respectable person in a less affluent area. Obviously just a bad judgement call...

Good ol' Neil of Neilswheels fame also used to be a hub regular before 9+ stolen bikes were recovered from him over a few months (including mine which a fellow hubber spied there less than 2 hours after it was stolen and already partially stripped). Coincidentally I subsequently found Neil selling a bike stolen from the same hubber that found mine! Also just a bad judgement call (well 9 of them that I know of)...

Wow that is hectic! but yes I reckon exactly that is happening right under our noses. like I said who will second guess an XTR (or even an XT) rear derailleur going for R1000? when a new one will set you back over R3k? if you are the seller you are going to have oakes lining up at your door!

So you pay some "less fortunate" individuals R500 per bike the hijack/steal/repatriate and you strip it for spares...
