Psycholist Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Hi. I did about 70% of the 48km classic.. what nice views did I see. The start of this race is not for the feint hated! ! First 17km is just a climb... but your effort is quickly repaid when you get to the top!! The 6 of us did a total 43km with some other area's what is not part of the Classic... next year I will take part in the Barberton Classic! !

kosmonooit Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 The marathon route towards the end goes into a lot of private land through gates so I don't think its normally open, looked like more game drive type jeep track. But yeah, this is one of if not the most awesome mtb events here in SA, through an incredibly special and geologically interesting area. I

I was blown away (yes by the above mentioned climb at the start - 1000m in 20km!) but by the beauty of the area. It was so much better than Dullstroom.

The majority of the first part runs through Forestry plantations which is not open, and the latter stages through 14 Streams and Greenstone is private property.
