Hi. I did about 70% of the 48km classic.. what nice views did I see. The start of this race is not for the feint hated! ! First 17km is just a climb... but your effort is quickly repaid when you get to the top!! The 6 of us did a total 43km with some other area's what is not part of the Classic... next year I will take part in the Barberton Classic! !

Are the trails used for the race (or others at the Barberton Nature Reserve) normally open for riding - heading out to Badplaas and it seems like a good ride.

The marathon route towards the end goes into a lot of private land through gates so I don't think its normally open, looked like more game drive type jeep track.

 

But yeah, this is one of if not the most awesome mtb events here in SA, through an incredibly special and geologically interesting area. I

Unfortunately not. The majority of the first part runs through Forestry plantations which is not open, and the latter stages through 14 Streams and Greenstone is private property.

Still have nightmares Oom.

Don't worry me too. But I HAVE TO DO IT for the 36one next year. lol :ph34r: . That last 20km almost killed me, I think it was in the 40'c
